My areas of specialism are:-

 

Piano and Organ

 

In my music room I have a modern upright piano, as well as a Roland digital instrument that I have for mobile use.

 

I am registered with the ABRSM for piano exams, and have 100% pass rate, with many pupils obtaining merit and distinction marks in their exams. Of course, not all pupils wish to study for exams, and this is perfectly okay. Playing for pleasure is definitely the aim for many of my adult pupils, so I am happy to cater for all ambitions!

 

Singing and Vocal Studies

 

Singing is where it all started for me, as a chorister at my local church. Over the years I have performed in Cathedrals and on theatre stages.

 

I offer singing tuition in both Classical and Musical Theatre genres, sometimes pupil even crossover between these areas.

 

I use ABRSM for Classical Singing exams, and LCM/UWL for Musical Theatre grades, again with 100% pass rate, and all Musical Theatre students receiving a minimum merit grade in their exams..

I also teach Brass instruments including Trumpet, Horn and Trombone

​

As well as practical tutoring, I can also provide tutoring in other areas of music including:-

• Composition

• Songwriting

• Arrangement and Orchestration

All lessons are provided on a one-to-one basis, so you are guaranteed my 100% concentration to help you improve!

Tuition can be provided at my home in Whiston, Rotherham where I have a dedicated teaching room, or I can travel to you and provide lessons in your own home.

For parents, I am always happy for you to attend and observe my lessons, and I have a certificate from the NSPCC in Child Protection Awareness. Additionally I hold an Enhanced Disclosure CRB check.

*COVID update April 2021

 

Face to face lessons are now possible under government guidelines, but I am still offering zoom lessons for some pupils. If you would prefer zoom lessons to attending face to face lessons then I am happy to accommodate this.

 

During face to face lessons sensible precautions will need to remain in place for some time, as per my COVID risk assessment. For your safety and mine, hand sanitizer will be available at the door, and temperature checks undertaken, and a screen partition used during lessons. Between lessons there will be a 10 minute gap to allow for cleaning of frequently touched surfaces, and particularly the piano, to minimise risk of transmission. If the weather is cool, please wrap up, as windows will be open for ventilation, and of course, if you are symptomatic, please contact me as soon as possible to cancel/rearrange any scheduled lessons.
